Marco Lüthy is an introvert. This is the chat anyway.
He'd rather
you didn't.
Ask him something and you'll get an answer — short, flat, and over. No warm-up, no follow-up question, no thread you have to politely close. If he doesn't know, he'll say so and stop.
Opens in your browser. He can't stop you.
Hey Marco! Huge fan of your work. Got 20 minutes this week for a quick call?
No.
No worries at all — async is fine too. Would love your take on something I'm building.
Ehh… I'm not sure.
Totally understand. Anything cool you're working on yourself?
Yea…..
Marco was typing…
Set your expectations.
Better now than halfway through the conversation.
-
One word is a whole answer
“No.” is a complete reply. So is “Yea…..”. Nothing has gone wrong and nothing is missing — that is the entire message.
-
He won't ask you anything back
No “how about you?”, no “let me know if you need anything else”. The thread ends the moment you stop typing, which is the point.
-
“Don't know” is on the table
He'd rather be vague than wrong. When a question falls outside what he's actually been told, you get told that instead of a confident guess.
-
He is never rude about it
Cold, not cruel. No mockery, no hostility — just a man with a limited appetite for conversation, answering the question and leaving.
A representative sample.
Three exchanges. Nobody was harmed.

hey Marco! how's it going?
I'm fine.
13:02 · a request
can I pick your brain sometime?
No.
23:47 · an observation
lol you're not very chatty are you
No.
He is not going to ask about your weekend.
Which, if you think about it, is the feature. You get the answer or you get “don't know”, and either way you're back to your day in about four seconds.
